The Gallery is located in the Tigullio, at Lavagna, at about 35 kilometers from Genoa, in a
district which goes from Portofino to Sestri Levante, rich of an artistical heritage of remarkable
interest, like the Basilica of Fieschi which goes back to 1200 and witnesses a domain of almost
five hundred years. Today the town, devoted to beach tourism, offers, together with the
contiguous Chiavari, a mooring capacity of over 2000 places which make of it one of the most
important marina of the Mediterranean sea. As much rich is the hinterland both from
the landscape and the naturalistic point of view such as Fontanabuona and Valgraveglia with
its famous slate caves, the damasks of Lorsica, which are still handweaved. Then the Regional
Park of Aveto with the reserve of Agoraie and the marvellous lake of Fir trees which dates
back to ice age, where there are rare endemisms with interesting examples of blooming of
typically Mediterranean flora at high altitude.
